Usually people whose diet is rich in fresh produce have more energy and are less likely to gain weight. And fruit and vegetables also help reduce the effects of aging. Choose organic fruit and organic vegetables when you can.
Cancer Research UK has reported that 'just one apple or orange a day' could cut your risk of dying early from cancer or other diseases by 20%.
Eat Fresh Fruits & Vegetables ...
Great!, but what about weight loss?
Fruits and vegetables contain essential nutrients to protect your health. The vitamins and minerals in fruit and vegetables can help reduce the risk of cancer, heart disease and high blood pressure, and type 2 diabetes. They taste good too.
Let's talk about Fruit and Vegetables and Weight Loss: Client frequently ask...
- Should I be on a diet?
- Does fruit turn into Sugar?
- Does Fruit contain too many Carbs?
- Can I eat Carrots?
As with anything you have to know what works for you and what does not work for you. Remember this!!
Many people on the low carb/no carb diets worry about fruit being to much sugar. They worry about specific vegetable being to starchy. Well, it is true some fruits are too much sugar for some people and yes some veggies are too many carbs for certain people.
I don't think there is a clear answer on this. We all have seen the food pyramid and that does not match up to all theories and in many cases it is too many calories to eat that way.
I find some people can eat a banana and go work out for 2 hours and feel fine. That would make me sick. I'm not right or wrong and they are not right or wrong. The reason there are thousands of diets that all swear they theory) works is because the all do work for "some people" but, not all.
Some diets say eat fruit and some say don't eat any at all. They both can make people lose weight. The goal is to be healthy. We need the nutrients fruit can give us. If you are not eating fruit for whatever reason, being you don' t like them at all or diet beliefs you need to take some vitamins or a fruit and veggie supplement to keep your body at the best energy and health.
As for fruit another thing to keep in mind is your family history of diabetes or low/high blood sugar. If you are a diabetic or sensitive to sugar for some reason, you may react to fruit more as a sugar effect than others. This may not make sense. See, how your body brakes down foods is different then others. I find in my 20 years in the fitness/health field that my clients who have diabetic parents, grand parents or aunts and uncles have to be more careful with their carbs, fruits and how their body brakes down sugars and lose weight easier if they limit these foods. I find that the South Beach type diet works wonders for these people. They lose weight quickly and feel more energetic right away. This diet limits fruit a lot at the beginning then introduces it back in slowly and manages how much you eat it and which ones. It's really simple and it works.
Too much of anything is not good. Use common sense. Don't eat 5 apples a day and full meals it will add up to many extra calories. You can eat too much fruit and it will end up with too
Another tip, if what you are eating is not working, make changes. Every "body" is different. What works for one person may not work for another. Don't sabotage your health and body by comparing yourself to others and trying to make something work for you that just doesn't.
