Walking Lunges in the Sand at the Beach...Are You Kidding?
If you trainer has you do this, RUN AWAY far AWAY.
I was walking my dog at the beach this morning before work and was entertained by a female personal trainer with a female client doing walking lunges back and forth in the sand for over 20 minutes. I could not help walking by watching and timing it. I don't know when they started but the 20 minutes I was around, they did them over and over again. AND the trainer was texting someone on her phone while doing her walking lunges. She was not watching her client.
The client was at least 25 pounds over weight. She won't lose 5 pounds before she will be injured for sure and won't be able to work out at all. When she lunged down her hip twisted to the left then she had to push her body back up to standing position with her hip twisted then power back down for her next step. THIS IS 100% UNSAFE. If you do a lunge and your hips can't stay in proper position, then lunges are going to do you more harm then good even if you are on stable grounds.
Walking lunges if not done correctly can and will cause injuries. Doing them in the uneven sand at the beach is insane.
If you perform walking lunges on uneven ground, being sand, dirt or grass you are FOR SURE at high risk for an injury to your knees, ankles, hips or back or all of them.
Please know you don't have to do insane unsafe exercises to get in shape and lose weight.
Be safe and learn the right way to do exercises and the best exercises for your body.
