Why New Year's Resolutions Fail

Another year and you are making the same exercise goal yet again...Do you ever wonder why?

If you find yourself making the same exercise resolution year after year, you are not alone.  Many do the same only to find themselves falling off the exercise wagon after just a few short weeks and this is why:

1)  Motives and incentives are not clear.  Often we make goals without really thinking through the reason why we want these things.  Do we really want change in our life, or do we just say this because it sounds good in the moment.  Real change requires work and sacrifice and if you aren't clear as to what will come of this change it will be hard to reach any goal we set for ourselves.

2)  Goals are grandiose, rather than small measurable steps.  Smaller steps lead to more success along the way and are more likely to keep you from quitting before seeing results.

3)  Aspirations lack accountability, Goals with accountability measures build in are more likely to succeed, So instead of making a resolutions alone, get a buddy with a similar goal and keep each other accountable.

4)  Lack of a plan. What is that saying? If you don't have a plan, you plan to fail.  Taking the time to define actionable steps can help you get in the mindset, priorities schedules and get the help you need to succeed.

5)  NO support and motivation.  You don't have to go it alone, other around you want to see you succeed and often get motivated themselves to accomplish big things too.  Getting the support you need will help you press through the hard times and keep going.

If you identified with one or more of the top 5 reasons above that people fail to reach their goals, then it's time to get help.   A personal trainer can help you define your goals that will help change your mindset, make a plan for measurable small steps that lead to big wins and give you the accountability, motivation and support to succeed.  Studies have shown that people with the right support have a higher rate success than those without help.  So, grab a friend and call Tracy today!

You need your body to last.  If you are 30 years old and you have excess body fat that you don't like, do you want that same fat there when you are 31? or 40 or 45? 60? etc.  Lose it now.    It may be hard or it may be easy, but it needs to be done.

If you are still waiting for a quick fix that also keeps the excess fat off with no effort of your own, you will be waiting long time and you are fooling yourself.

Take care of yourself,  Move you body.  Stretch your body.  Feed your body good food.

Jack LaLanne made his body last with strength and good health.  Now you would not make your baby do a one armed pushup, but you also would not feed it fast food and chips and diet soda and make it sit around and get fat.   So, why are you doing it to yourself???

  • Take care of you, as you would you own child.  Feed your  body the best.
  • Move the body because you should.  The body was made for movement.
  • Think Like a Kid for Good Health
  • Ride your bike or walk everywhere since you can not drive.
  • Go to bed early because that is what you have to do.
  • Eat your vegetables; your mom will make you anyway.
  • Have fun outdoors every day.
  • Laugh a lot because everything is funny.
  • Do your chores so you won't get in trouble.
  • Eat your vitamins.
  • Play games with your friends every day.

Make yourself a promise today.  Promise yourself that this time next year..  your body will be and feel healthy!   Why keep waiting?
