Each muscle in the body was given a specific job to do. You may not have been aware that you had all those muscles. There are deep muscles.. These muscles are under your bigger glute muscles, as you can see.
If just one of these muscles are weak it can cause many problems. If one muscle can not perform it's job it was made to do, the surrounding muscles now have to do their job as well as the weak muscles job. These muscles now get tired sooner because they are doing 2 jobs, and so on. Now the leg muscles will try to compensate as well. This can add to knee pain and ankle pain as well as back and hip.
You may for years work out unbalanced and one day you are lifting a box or a child and your back instantly hurts. You pulled something. It can be more the years of weakness and unbalance that caused that on moment of injury, that now you have to go to doctors, chiropractors and physical therapist to get your muscles balanced to fix the problem and avoid it from happening again.

A few tips:
- Take care of your body so it lasts strong.
- Take care of your body like you do you car. (assuming you wash you care, park it so no one dings it, change the oil, follow it's maintenance like directed by the car maker.
- Take care of your body as you do a child. If your pediatrician told you to avoid certain foods that are not good for them you stop instantly. If you doctor told you to make sure your child gets exercise and rest, you do so. Do the same for you.
